Background of the study
Ecotourism, as an alternative to mass tourism, is increasingly recognized for its potential to support environmental conservation. In Obanliku Local Government Area, Cross River State, ecotourism initiatives have been adopted to both boost the local economy and conserve natural resources (Bassey, 2023). This form of tourism promotes sustainable interaction with natural habitats, ensuring that economic benefits do not come at the expense of ecological integrity. The study investigates how ecotourism projects in Obanliku contribute to environmental preservation through community involvement, sustainable practices, and conservation funding. It considers the balance between tourism development and ecological preservation, emphasizing the role of local stakeholders in managing natural resources (Offiong, 2024).
